August 9: Snow Report

The official depth is just 75cm.

The first dump of the season is predicted for mid-next week, and no one is denying this season has been a bit of a fizzer.

Snowmaking at the resorts has however been excellent, and despite the low snowfall, skiing at the resorts has continued to be good.

As you can see from the predicted snow depth graph, we got off to a good start, but over the last few weeks have slipped behind where we were expected to be. The peak depth for 2006 is now expected in early September, rising to just over 1 metre.

Looks like the estimate is a little over what has actually fallen so far. But from the chart, it looks like there is no forecast for any big dumps until late July, mid August?
